Anyway chess players in Kenya are being given ring side tickets for the most amazing Chess Kenya Committee fight. On one side we have the Chairman Andolo Ambasi (who is the sponsor of this event) and on the other side the charming Mary Kanyua who is an Executive Member.
Well the story started out with a certain unknown person called Cyrus Ouma who wrote an email to the Kenya Chess Forum and many others an email about nepotism in Chess Kenya. The main point being that Lydia who is a committee member is Andolo Ambasi's sister in law. Well that touched a raw nerve with the Chairman who fired off a fast response using the word "circumcised" in his response. I am too embarrassed to copy and paste it here. Cyrus was back with a salvo and the next email was from Bigwig Ambasi accusing Mary Kanyua of being the person who is using Cyrus's name under a false alias!!! Of course Mary was swift and cruel in her response.............which is produced in full below

This is madness, starting with you Mr. Ambasi. How foolish of you to think that I can impersonate anyone so as to pass a message? Yes and yes you are aware that neither myself nor other executive members support Lydia as an Executive. Didnt I state this complain in a CK executive meeting this January? Didnt I even write to you and tell you (via text) that you have failed as a Chairman, and that you bridge the constitution to suit your interests? For instance, why do you want us to stick to the constitution for elections, yet you seem to bend it on other aspects? Please note that I consider you a failure in most aspects of CK, and I have told some chessers, BOTH WITHIN AND OUTSIDE the Executive, that I perceive you as a failure than a success. If players choose to expose you in such methods as using fake names, then that is not my doing. Also note that you have accused me falsely and it is on record, and I will use it to pursue justice or to demand a public apology from you.
I get more support (in organising the National Chess Championship) from chess players and petitioners (some of who were not approved by you in the Olympiad committee) than the support I get from you, so which chesser doesnt know how frustrated I am with YOU and your leadership? There is nothing I havent told you on your face, but maybe its too hard for you to handle my stern remarks. What is it that I cannot or have not told you via mail, text or face to face under the name Mary Kanyua? I am no coward to impersonate anyone? That should sink deep into your head.
Also note that, just because I am not for Lydia (due to her lack of commitment in attending meetings) doesnt mean I am intimidated with having ladies in the executive. You have promoted a culture of accommodating dorminant officials and too bad for you that I do not condone this. For your information, the other officials are aware that I have contacted a certain number of ladies to join the executive in the upcoming elections, but you seem to have a problem with those that signed the petitioners list last year.
Ambasi, you excel in a divide-and-rule kind of setting, both within the executive and also between players and officials, but you do not excel on what you can do for the chess fraternity. I also despise your leadership, based on the fact that I use my personal money to organise a big event such as the national chess championship. I also come from my 6 hours work station, to look for a venue for the 2012 National chess championship. I have told you my grievances always and often, but all you seem to care about is your "Ambasi Tournament", a month before elections.
And as for you silly Cyrus, I am nobody's pet. I love what I do and I do what I love for CK. Showcase your real identity and stop this madness.
Wow!! That is all I can say for now.
